Deck 8: Multiviews
1
List two reasons why views are aligned on a drawing.
Views are aligned to allow the drafter to project points directly from one view to the next in order to establish related features. It makes it easy to extend common dimensions. And it allows the use of a 45° projection line to aid in drawing front, top, and side views, because the depth dimension is the same between the top and side views.
2
Explain in brief statements five basic guidelines to follow when selecting the front view of an object for multiview presentation.
When selecting the front view: 1. The most natural use position 2. Best shape description, or most contours 3. The longest dimension 4. The fewest hidden features 5. The most stable position
3
Why is it not always necessary to select three views to de- scribe an object when using multiview projection?
. Some objects can be completely described with two views or even one view.
