Should people take more responsibility for their own health? Why?

Although medical sciences are seeing significant advancements in terms of both diagnostics and therapeutics, it would be wise to take all preventive measures that guard against illnesses.
Also, certain clinical conditions, such as the ones with genetic basis, are inevitable, it is the responsibility of an individual to cooperate and follow the prescribed methods to manage the condition better. Should a massage therapist know how to perform clinical massage? Why?
Touch therapy is a form of unconventional and a traditional form of therapy that provides relief from ailments by manipulating the soft tissues of the body. Typically, touch therapy is also known as massage therapy and is being followed widely.
Clinical massage is a form of touch therapy apart from the medical and orthopaedic massage systems. Clinical massage is also individual-centric and is largely directed towards treating impairments of the musculo-skeletal system. Components of clinical massage include a thorough understanding of the body physiology and anatomy, acquiring skills required for palpitation, an ability to assess conditions competently, in obtaining a detailed history of the patient and in having proper visual observational skills.
A massage therapist is considered as one of the care-providers and it would be useful for a massage therapist to perform massage as required for a clinical condition. As touch therapy or massage therapy is driven towards alleviating clinical conditions, a massage therapist should understand the components of the clinical massage.
