Define nutrition informatics and describe examples of its utilization in community nutrition practice.
Nutrition informatics is "the effective retrieval, organization, storage, and optimum use of information, data, and knowledge for food and nutrition related problem solving and decision-making." It is the intersection of nutrition, information, and technology and represents the evolution of practicing dietics.
Examples of utilization of nutrition informatics are as given below:
a. Clinical nutrition : It is nutrition of patients in health care. It aims at healthy energy balance in patients as well as providing sufficient amounts of all nutrients. It follows the procedure of maintaining electronic health records; documentation of nutrition care process; nutritional analysis of foods and menus, record of patient's dietary intake, enteral feedings and modified diets, use of personal digital assistants or smartphones to guide a patient.
b. Foodservice management : It involves budgeting; financial management; purchasing and inventory management; recipe and menu planning; food procurement, preparation and delivery

Describe the four functions of management.
Management is the process of achieving organizational goals by using available resources efficiently and effectively, through planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. These four functions help a manger accomplish the goals.
Planning : It is the foreseeing aspect of a manager. It involves setting goals and objectives and generating plans for action. Strategic planning addresses the organization's overall goals, whereas operational planning is short-term planning on the activities and actions required to meet the organizations goals
Organizing : It is arranging and distributing human and nonhuman resources to execute plans successfully
Leading: It is influencing others to achieve the organizations goals
Controlling : It is regulating activities to ensure that they meet the standards and goals of the organization

Strategic planning: It is broad in scope and addresses the organization's overall goals
Operational planning: It is short-term planning that focuses on the activities and actions required to meet the organization's goal.
