Deck 26: Biomes
1
Fire has been a natural phenomenon in several biomes for thousands of years, and most plant species are adapted to it in various ways in the ecosystem where it occurs regularly. Should we then not extinguish forest and grassland fires when they occur?
Fire has been a natural process in several phenomenon in several biomes for thousands of years; most species are adapted to it in various ways in the ecosystem where it occurs regularly.
We should stop the fires when they occur in forest and grass land: this is because though some of the plants are adapted to the changes; few plants which are sensitive to heat other than the adapted have become extinct.
Some organisms and biome are boomed to extinction because of the fire. This has cause few animals to disappear.
Thus the grass land fires and forest extinguish should not be followed.
2
Characterize desert and tundra biomes.
Worldly Biotic communities on the globe are denoted to as biome. It characterise plants and animals adapted to that environmental region.
Tundra biomes:
The flora of the tundra is dwarf shrubs, grasses, lichens and mosses. They produce tiny plants with bright colored flowers and form brilliant carpets over the top of the soil.
The biome is extremely fragile. The root system is not deep. When water soaks the upper soil surface of the soil it forms bogs or ponds. The plants are adapted to undergo photosynthesis in low light and at cold temperature.
Desert:
Deserts are characterized by low annual precipitation and wide range of temperature. They are situated at 30 0 latitude of both north and south of the equator. The soil is too porous to retain water. The plants are adapted with thick cuticle, water storage tissue in stem and leaves. The root system is found to be very shallow.

Much of the tropical rain forest biome is located in developing countries, which have precarious economies. Bearing that in mind, what could be done to halt the destruction of this priceless and vital part of our ecosystem?
Most of the tropical rain forest biome is located in developing countries with precarious economics. They are destroyed for commercial purpose. In order to bring the destruction of the vital part of the ecosystem to end; Government and individuals has to take certain action to stop the large scale destruction. This may lead to extinction of organisms and the biome will vanish essentially.
