Impact of Religion on Program Planning
The local parks and recreation agency in a city of 50,000 people is going to offer an indoor youth soccer league from September through December on Saturdays. In setting the schedule for the league, the Youth Sports Coordinator became concerned about religious and other holidays that she should avoid. This is a very diverse community where Catholics make up 25.1%, Baptists 15.8%, mainline Christian (Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian) 12.9%, Muslim 2.5%, Jewish 2%, Latter Day Saints 1.4%, and the rest of the community has no religious affiliation. The past supervisor of this program scheduled games every Saturday regardless of whether or not it was a religious holiday. His attitude was, "If they want to play, they will play. If they want to go to church, they will go to church."
Would you schedule around these holidays or play on all of them so as not to show a preference for one religious group or another Why or why not

Case synopsis:
The indoor soccer league is started by the local "park and recreation agency." The league will start in September and the final match will be in December. The coordinator of the league should prepare a schedule and she should consider all the holidays of each religion. The area is much diversified community where Jewish, Catholics, Baptists, Mainline Christian, and Muslims live there. However, the past coordinator schedules the game every Saturday without concerning about the religious holidays.
The following are some of the holidays that should be considered while planning for soccer schedule:
These are the holidays announced by the U country as government holidays.
Determine whether the coordinator would schedule these holidays to play soccer league:
As per history, the soccer league games coordinator does not consider any religious holidays. This is because it is difficult to complete the schedule of games within the particular period if all the holidays are considered. Sometimes, if a community holiday is missed out, then it will lead to create an issue by that particular group of people. Hence, the coordinator should not consider the holidays and schedule the game on each Saturday like the previous supervisor.

Intergenerational Programming
The County of San Diego Aging and Independent Services understands that today's seniors are living longer and healthier lives, are better educated, and are more affluent than in the past. They see the need to engage this group to enhance socialization, increase emotional support, and help the adults engage in meaningful activities. They are doing this through intergenerational programs where adults and youth participate in programs together to share their talents, experience, and knowledge to develop beneficial relationships. Here are a few examples of successful programs: a
Broadway Heights Community Council's Intergenerational Tour: The youth in the neighborhood participate in a leadership development program with the seniors in the community to receive ongoing mentorship, tutoring, and leadership skills training. Part of this program was a 5640-mile trip across the country to experience important locations related to the Civil Rights Movement.
Foster Youth Mentor Program: Senior mentors are matched with children in the foster care system. These mentors nurture children to provide guidance, stability, friendship, and mentoring to build self-esteem, self-reliance, self-sufficiency, academic excellence, and social skills.
Generations Sharing: Local day trips are planned to historic and cultural destinations in San Diego. The program is designed to provide opportunities for elementary-age children, teens, and older adults to foster bonds, share a learning experience, and discuss their insights and past experiences relating to the trip.
