Deck 13: Sexual Orientation
1
Do you harbor any stereotypes about lesbian or gay people? If so, what are they? What, if anything, do you plan to do about them?
Lesbian or gay people are individuals like us. The only difference is that they seek to be in a relationship with same gender individuals. Like in a lesbian relationship a woman wants to have a love relationship or wants to get married to another woman. While in a gay relationship a man wants to have a love relationship or wants to get married to another man.
Thus I believe I do not harbor any stereotypes about lesbian or gay people. I as such have no plans to have any negative feelings for them. I am an individual and they too are individuals of my society and country as a whole. They have the same rights to live independent and simple life just like I wish to have. Thus I have no plans about them.

What ethical issues do you think are involved in conversion therapy? Explain your reasons.
Conversion therapy is the issue that is on a high debate and controversy nowadays. There are number of people who wish to change their gender and have no issues undergoing a surgery for the same. But with the rise in the number of people wishing to go for conversion therapy, doctors and professionals have come out with several risks and harmful effects attached with this conversion.
As per my opinion, apart from medical issues that are attached with conversion therapy, the ethical issues that I think are also involved in conversion therapy are that this conversion will misbalance the male female ration and population in the society and country as a whole. People will anytime wish to have surgery and change their gender, this is going to be a big shame for the whole society as a whole. Thus one should understand that conversion therapy is not a joke and should undergo this surgery after a lot of thinking about its physical and emotional ill effects.

Should transgender people have the right to physically alter themselves to better resemble their true gender identity? If so, who should pay for it? The individuals themselves? Insurance companies? The public?
Transgender people are the third gender in this world. Several nations have come up with new and effective policies that will definitely affect the development of the conditions of transgender on a higher note. Whereas in some nations, the conditions of transgender are still pathetic and they are treated not more than like filth which is really very saddening.
As per my opinion, I believe transgender people should not have the right to physically alter themselves to better resemble their true gender because this way they will more severely become target and substance of laugh by the society. It is better they remain the same, the way they have been built by God and do not try to alter or change themselves.
