Deck 8: Economics of Hate
1
What is hate?
Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary (2004) defines hate as, "intense hostility and aversion usually derived from fear, anger, or sense of injury."
2
What are some initial responses of a person to hate?
Researchers Semir Zeki and John Paul Romaya (2008) found distinct activity in the brain associated with hate. Hate starts out as an internal mental and physical response to an outside stimulus, in such forms as thoughts and tightening of muscles.
3
What are some actions that show escalation of hate beyond internal and physical responses to a person?
Hate can escalate into words (spoken or written, private or public, self-ascribed or anonymous) or depictions (hand signals, body language, graffiti, or pictures).
