Drug usage has several ill effects on the individual's health. Drugs are majorly classified into two types as psychoactive drugs and recreational drugs.
The chemical substances that act as psychoactive drugs affect the nervous system while, recreational drugs are the chemicals that are used for pleasure. Psychoactive drugs alter the perception, mood, or consciousness of an individual. The alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine can act as both psychoactive and recreational drugs.
The drug interacts with the receptors in the body of an individual to produce toxic effects. The interaction of drugs to receptors is called pharmacodynamics and the way in which the drug is absorbed, distributed, and excreted by the body is called pharmacokinetics.
The increase in dosage of drugs affects two characteristics of the drug. The two characteristics include, increase of drug effects on the body and change in the kind of effect asserted by the drug.
Most of the people take drugs to escape stress and relax. They also prefer drugs to ease their suffering in conditions like depression, bipolar disorder etc. Some get motivated to use drugs by observing their family members, role models, and friends using them. A few try to experiment the drugs and others get addicted to drugs, which are prescribed to treat an injury.
