Exercise 3

Complete the Policy 1 tab for Hiro Tanaka. The information needed to complete this exercise is found on Source Document 1.
Date: October 4, 2010
1. Edit the case for Hiro Tanaka.
2. Make the Policy 1 tab active.
3. Select Tanaka's primary insurance carrier from the drop-down list in the Insurance 1 box. Press Tab.
4. The program completes the Policy Holder 1 field with the name of the patient. Since Tanaka is the policyholder, accept this entry.
5. Notice that the Relationship to Insured box already has "Self" entered. Since this is correct, do not make any changes.
6. Enter Tanaka's insurance policy number in the Policy Number box. Press Tab.
7. Enter Tanaka's group number in the Group Number box. Press Tab.
8. In the Policy Dates-Start box, key 01012010 (January 1, 2010) as the start date of the policy. Press Tab. The program displays a Confirm message stating that the date entered is in the future and asking whether you want to change it. Click No.
9. Dr. Yan accepts assignment for this carrier, so click the Assignment of Benefits/Accept Assignment box.
10. The insurance plan is capitated, so check the Capitated Plan box.
11. Key 20 in the Copayment box if it does not already appear. Press Tab.
12. Key 100 in each of the Insurance Coverage Percents by Service Classification boxes.
13. Check your work for accuracy.
14. Save the changes.
15. Do not close the Patient List dialog box.
