Using the information in Exercise 10-1, create a tickler item for the patient whose account is more than ninety days overdue.
Date: November 5, 2010
1. Start Medisoft and restore the data from your last work session. Change the Medisoft Program Date to November 5, 2010.
2. Select Collection List on the Activities menu.
3. Change the entries in the Date fields to 10/01/2010 and 11/30/2010. ( Note: It is not necessary to enter the slashes when keying in the dates.)
4. Click the New button to display the Tickler Item dialog box.
5. In the Action Required box, enter Telephone call about overdue balance. See notes.
6. Select Patient as the Responsible Party Type.
7. Select the patient's chart number in the Chart Number field.
8. Select the guarantor in the Guarantor field.
9. Complete the Responsible Party field.
10. Leave the Assign to field blank. (In a real practice setting, this field would contain the name of the staff member who was assigned to follow up on this collection list item.)
11. Set the Status of the item to Open.
12. Change the entry in the Follow-up Date field to November 12, 2010.
13. Leave the Date Resolved field blank.
14. Click on the Office Notes tab, and enter the following text: Patient said she could not pay the balance on the account until her November Social Security check was deposited. Call to follow-up.
15. Click the Save button. The item is added to the Collection List.
16. Close the Collection List dialog box.
