The link between Culture and Communication is as follows:
• Culture depicts the values, norms and standards which binds the individuals to perform their deeds in a certain manner. It stands for certain rules and regulations under the restrictions of which actions are expected from the individuals.
• If we talk about 'J' culture, long term employment, stability in the organization, respect for seniors, concern for the group as a whole, working for the group and not for personal benefit etc. are some of the standards, which are imbedded in their culture
• In contrast, 'A' culture does not believe in stability, long term employment does not suits their mind, they love job hopping, individual motives are the first priority rather than group goals
• Whenever any task is achieved, they will try to analyze their individual contribution towards the success unlike J, who gives credit to the whole group
• Similarly, the communication is linked with culture and vice versa. If we talk about 'I' culture, respect to elders, maintaining healthy relations with family members are some of the traits of communications that are imbibed there
• In general if we talk about linkage of communication with culture, it could be said that if the environment of the culture is liberal and provides freedom, the communication in such culture exists freely without any inhibition
• On other hand if the culture of some place does not provide freedom and is strict then communication also becomes limited and bounded with restrictions.
Thus, Culture and Communication are inter-dependent as one influences the other. The geographical and surroundings would also have common impact on the above two factors discussed.
