Historiography is defined as the study of a proper method in writing history. It is complex as well as there is no possibility of getting final answers for the set of question it arises.
The study of history in psychology one is able to gain the following:
1. It helps in deep understanding, with the knowledge of the history. The student knows that the psychology matters come from and how it is important. It is the same way, as we understand the person's current behavior by learning its experiences.
2. It is true that the viewpoints do not always fade away because it is incorrect. Somewhat some viewpoints disappear because they become unpopular. Psychology as a fashion explains that gaining of the knowledge without any concern of usefulness. It is a pure science but later on when new theories come, they became popular and psychology shifted its attention to processes.
3. By learning the history of the psychology, the student learned to avoid the repetitions and mistakes. Those who do not remember the past are convicted to repeat it. It feels unhappy if the mistakes are repeated especially. By studying history, we may also develop the ideas.
