One of the dilemmas with the health care system is the way people define access. Access can be seen as being able to get to ones health care provider by a car, bus or other forms of transportation. It is also defined as being able to pay for the care and being able to have health care. Individuals who see access as these two definitions do not realize that having access is more seen, as having ones needs all met once they enter the system and having everything met as they leave their providers office. Many providers do not realize that they may act and treat every individual differently. Some providers may treat certain individuals differently based on their age or race. Though many will not agree with that or come forth and say that they do that but their patients can vouch for it. Also if an individual does not feel comfortable as they walk into an office they may not find confidence in their provider and not address all their problems. By not addressing all their problems they are not getting all their needs met and they are not getting the best care that they deserve. Their access to health care is then not met and the system is not doing its job. An individual who is not treated carefully because of their race and age can cause complications for their health and for the health care system. If an individual is not getting fairly treated or is not being examined in all ways possible that are necessary for their issue then they are not getting the best care that they deserve. If the health care system does not give everyone good accesses then they are failing to do their job.
