To provide consistency in the interpretation of contracts for the sales of goods involving companies located in different countries, the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG) sets forth a set of contract principles that purport to bind all companies located in countries that are signatories to the CISG (the CISG is discussed in more detail in Chapter 8). The United States is a signatory to the CISG. Given the Medellín decision, will the CISG still be binding on U.S. businesses that enter into contracts with companies located in other signatory countries?
