John has made big changes in his life. An IV drug user for more than 5 years, he recently completed an inpatient rehabilitation program and got serious about staying off drugs. His cousin, Bill, suggested that John move west to a quiet rural area and work on Bill's farm. John had lived in the city all his life so he took Bill up on his offer, figuring it will be a true fresh start. John loved the peace and quiet and adjusted to the physical labor. Things went well for a few weeks, and then John fell ill. His head was stuffy, his nose ran, he had a cough, ran a low-grade fever, and his glands (actually his cervical lymph nodes) swelled. No matter how much John slept, it was never enough. The mystery illness would hang around for a few days and then seem to go away, only to come back in a few days. Frustrated and a little scared, John finally went to see Bill's doctor.
