Jerry Worley worked for Wyoming Bottling. He wanted to get a loan to buy a new car and appliances for his home. He asked Joe DeCora, the company president, about job security. DeCora told him his job was secure and to take out the loan. Worley checked with his supervisor, Butch Gibson, to make sure his job performance was satisfactory. Gibson told him everything was fine and "to go on about [his] affairs."
