Toys-R-Ya'll has asked your firm to install a computerized accounting system at its Baytown warehouse. The management wants you to flowchart how the computerized system will work from the point of receipt of the goods, to the creation of the purchases transaction file, to the update of the related master and open files.
When the goods arrive, the receiving clerk will count the goods and enter the transaction data through her keyboard. The input prompt and the open purchase order file will display the details of the goods ordered so the clerk can compare the purchase order and the actual goods received. The entered data will go into the purchases transaction file. At the end of the day, the purchases transaction file will be posted to the:
1. Open purchase order file
2. Inventory master file
3. Vendor master file
Required:
Prepare a systems flowchart for the receiving subsystem as described above. You must complete your assignment using a computerized flowcharting software package. Include a text box in your flowchart with your name, date, course number, section number, and the name of the flowcharting program you used.
At the beginning of your class, please turn in a printout of your flowchart and the electronic file for your flowchart (which can be submitted electronically, if available).
