Use your critical-thinking skills to answer the following questions.
You work as a front-office staff member in a family healthcare practice that allows "walk-in" patients. An individual enters the waiting room who is not scheduled on the appointment schedule, and you determine this person is a new patient. Do you enter the person as a "new patient" on the schedule, by typing his or her name directly in the Patient field of the Edit Appointment window, or do you first set this patient up in the database in the New Patient window, under the New menu of the Practice View screen? Please explain your answer.
