Exercise 32
Plan B
At this writing in 2013, the FDA is considering several new consumer rules including protection for children and adolescents from added caffeine in products such as Cracker Jack and a warning against tanning bed use for those under 18. The most controversial decision, however, has to do with the morning-after birth control pill, popularly known as Plan B. In early 2013, a federal judge ordered the FDA to make Plan B available without prescription to girls and women of all ages. The Obama administration announced that it would appeal the federal judge's order, but soon thereafter the appeal was dropped and the FDA was expected to approve Plan B for sale over the counter without restrictions.
Question
In your judgment, should the FDA make Plan B available to girls and women of all ages, to those 15 and above, to those 17 and over, as had been the case, to some other age, or not at all Explain.
