You are employed by a regional systems consulting firm. Charles Drummond, the president of Drummond Industries, a successful local manufacturing company, has asked for your help. The company is experiencing systems problems, and he wants you to prepare a memo that he can use in a meeting with other top management that will address those problems.
Over the years Drummond has developed an accounting information system (AIS) that records the journal entries for sales along with the dates of the transactions. Other information about the sale is collected and processed by three other different AISs. This has led to a problem of redundancy and data discrepancies among systems.
Write a memo to Charles Drummond that recommends the development and implementation of an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and explains how an ERP system can overcome the problems the company is experiencing. Invent any facts necessary to complete the memo.
