Explain why you agree or disagree with each of the following proposals made by the U.S. nuclear power industry: (a) provide a new round of large government subsidies and loan guarantees to build a large number of better-designed nuclear fission power plants, in order to reduce dependence on imported oil and slow projected climate change; (b) prevent the public from participating in hearings on the licensing of new nuclear power plants and on safety issues at the nation's nuclear reactors; (c) allow electric utility companies to begin charging consumers for some of the costs of proposed new nuclear power plants before they are built; (d) greatly increase federal subsidies for developing nuclear fusion.
