The Internet has become a primary source of health and nutrition information for many consumers. Many of us have "surfed the Web" at one time or another to learn more about a particular condition, dietary recommendation, or research finding that was recently reported in the news. Public awareness and interest in wellness topics has significantly increased as a result of having online access to health and nutrition websites. However, limited regulation and oversight of information posted on many websites has concerned health care professionals (Boyer, 2013; Mager, 2012).
