A student performing a nuclear scan notices that he cannot resolve a small vessel that he is trying to image. He determines that this is because of the small distance between the apertures on the lead collimator. He decides that more counts and thus a better image will be obtained if he removes the collimator and images using only the NaI scintillation crystal. Is this idea sound? Explain (using pictures) why or why not.
