There are many ideas and theories regarding the origin of life, but the scientific problem is not yet solved for there are few clear facts. There are few generally agreed theories like a single primitive life form is the common ancestor of all life today. However, there are controversies regarding the development of cells and primary arrival of genetics or metabolism.
The early conditions on Earth, which gave rise to life, are difficult to deduce and prove. Progress to answer the question is very slow, despite it being an important topic. The abiogenetic conditions of early Earth are difficult to recreate and conduct experiments. The answers to this problem lie in chemistry, geology, paleontology and molecular biology.
In contrast, there is plenty information about the evolution of life's diversity. Based on the evidences of fossils and genetic information, phylogenetic trees have been constructed, which depict the evolutionary relationships among different species. Recent techniques have aid in the constructive research in this field.
