Some South African sex workers regularly exposed to HIV have been known to resist infection for years. Also, the Sydney Blood Bank Cohort represents a group of individuals termed "long-term nonprogressors," who have been infected with HIV for over 30 years. Conduct additional research and see what scientists have learned from these two groups and how this information may shape the development of protective treatments or vaccines against HIV.
