Today's Directors Look a Lot Like Yesterday's Directors
As companies look for current and retired chief executive officers and chief financial officers to serve on their boards of directors, they are getting a lot of experience but not a lot of diversity. Since mainly white men have been CEOs and CFOs in the past, most boards of large U.S. corporations continue to be dominated by white men today.
If populating a board of directors with current and former CEOs and CFOs does not increase the board's diversity, should a big corporation look for different sources of talent to serve on its board? Why or why not?
