A NetWare service known as iFolder gives remote users a simple means of accessing and synchronizing data files on a NetWare server. iFolder makes use of the Internet. Files and directories can be accessed remotely by using special iFolder software or a standard Web browser. The advantage of accessing files with a Web browser means users can access files securely from almost any device from any location. Users simply enter the address of the NetWare iFolder server into the Web browser and then log in. Full directory and file access is granted, including the ability to upload, download, rename, delete, and create new folders. Files that are transmitted are encrypted to protect their contents. Once the document has been downloaded with iFolder, it can be modified and then uploaded back to the network server. The iFolder service also provides synchronization. A folder on the remote computer functions as any other local directory, allowing the user to create any number of subfolders for file storage. Users then drag and drop files and folders to the iFolder directory. Being saved to this directory, the files are automatically synchronized and updated with their Novell iFolder on the network file server.
