Deck 7: D: Survey Design and Scale Construction: Is Going Greek a Great Idea
1
What is the difference between test-retest reliability and alternative-form reliability?
Test-retest reliability focuses on the temporal stability of a measure (whether the scores stay the same over time);alternative-form reliability evaluates how well a measure correlates with a similar, but different, measure of the same variable.
2
What is the difference between construct validity and content validity?
Construct validity is the extent to which the scale actually measures the desired construct.Content validity is the degree to which the actual items on a scale reflect the range of information that should be included in the measurement of that variable.
3
What is a correlational study and what are two variables that would be positively correlated?
A correlational study is any study that tests the associations between two variables to determine if changes in one variable correspond with changes in another variable. For instance, two variables that are likely to be positively correlated would be height and shoe size.Taller individuals are to have a large shoe size.
