The president of a college once said in a guest lecture to a management class on his campus that, "The only important facet of leadership is symbolism." Although many people on his campus would disagree with his views on leadership because of mismanagement that occurred during his presidency, his claim about the importance of symbolism lives on. Explain his view in light of our text's discussion of values based leadership.
