The story on Bluma Zeigarnik, the Russian Gestalt psychologist for whom the Zeigarnik Effect is named, is that her first clue that people remember uncompleted tasks better than completed ones was at her favorite restaurant in Berlin. It seems that her regular waiter could remember tons of details about customers who did not pay their bills but little about those who did. Here are some data that illustrate her observations.
