The Answer is The diary method is used when researchers ask subjects to write daily diary entries. This is valuable in several ways as a research tool. First, it prevents memory decay, by recording events as they happen, or shortly after they happen. Subjects are forced to act as performers and informants. They provide information about the writer (as performer), and others who interact with the writer (as observer). The subject is able to reflect on his/her own performance, and on the performance of those with whom he/she has interacted. The writer can articulate explanations of purpose, allocate praise or blame, and act as a critic. Finally, the diary method provides an opportunity for the subject to reflectively recreate the events of the day.
