Glenn,a sixth grader with a history of low achievement and poor social skills,enters the classroom in a sullen,angry mood.This is not unusual behaviour for Glenn.His hostility has alienated the few friends that he had at the beginning of the year and he has not responded to the teacher's offers to give him extra help after school.Today,he ignores the greetings of other students in the class,goes to his desk,refuses to talk with anyone,and appears to be sulking.The teacher,Mr.Larsen,instructs the class to get ready for journal writing,and the students begin organizing themselves-all except Glenn.When Mr.Larsen instructs students to begin writing,Glenn throws his pencil at the student sitting across from him.
