The Answer is The stratosphere is the layer of the atmosphere lying right above the troposphere with a range in altitude of ~12 to 50 km (~7.5 to 30 mi). It has the same general composition as the troposphere,with the exception of less water vapor and particulates and more ozone. The ozone layer is located in the upper portion of the stratosphere (12 to 30 mi). Since the ozone layer absorbs shortwave radiation (UV)and emits longwave radiation (thermal)the stratosphere is heated from the top down,so temperatures increase with altitude,leading to a positive environmental lapse rate.
