When we use sociological imagination,we question how social forces (including history)affect our day-to-day behaviors.In the past,women gave up their family names when they got married and took the last names of their new husbands.At the time,this practice indicated that a woman,who was a piece of property,was being transferred from one male (the father)to another (the new husband).Men didn't change their names because they were owners,not property.
