The purpose of the Mark as Final command is to convert a presentation into a read-only presentation. A read-only presentation cannot be further modified or edited. The Marked as Final icon appears in the status bar. All of the commands on the Ribbon are dimmed and unavailable. To mark a document as final, click the Office Button, point to Prepare, and then click Mark as Final. You can remove the mark as final status by applying the same menu command. Since the Mark as Final command is not a permanent setting, I think one good use for it would be to show a colleague that you have marked it as final if you are collaborating on a project. This would serve as a message that you are done with your portion of the presentation.
